We don’t know exactly how many individuals get surgery, but data indicates that there are over 234 million procedures worldwide each year.
Some of them are involved and dangerous, while others are common and barely obtrusive. But all procedures, regardless of their size, are trying. It’s normal to worry about potential problems or a challenging post-surgical recovery period when you, a friend, or a family member is undergoing surgery.
You don’t have to fear alone, though, since God is with you. God, who created us, is continually looking out for us. You only need to pray to get through to Him. We’d like to share six prayers from surgeons in this post to assist you find solace and faith during this trying time.
Prayer For Someone Having Surgery
We serve a powerful God who can provide compete physical healing. Ask him for his healing hand over your surgery and those your love.
Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please reach down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect her from Satan’s lies and discouragement and let her miraculous healing begin. Amen.
Short Prayer Before Surgery
Father, we submit to your will whatever the outcome. Your will be done. Provide full recovery with no problems or long-term complications. Pour out the power of Christ for the grace and faith we need in this. Let your guardian angels carefully watch over us now.
Loved One Undergoing Surgery
Lord I come before you today I need your healing power to heal my loved one – that they may recover from a successful surgery. I beg for your mercy oh Lord to give her the patience and endurance to surpass all the pain she is having right now. I pray to you most gracious and almighty God that she may get better and will be back on his normal life. In your name I pray amen.
Prayer for Healing Recovery
There is often a long, painful healing journey after surgery. Pray this prayer to seek God’s strength in the months after surgery.
Father, I want to thank you that [insert name] has had her operation, and all went so successfully. I want to thank you for such perfect timing that only you could have worked out so meticulously. Lord I pray that you will really comfort her in the days ahead as she copes with the pain of surgery. Heal her Lord. Please comfort her and bring her peace. The surgery of a spouse can create a lot of anxious thoughts and worries. Take your fears to God and ask for His peace.
Lord, please let it be your will that my husband’s surgery at this moment will be successful. Bless and guide the surgeon’s hands. Give wisdom and understanding to the team who is watching over him. May they be given supernatural strength and knowledge.
Lord, calm my nerves and help me to to confidently relax in your peace. May I trust in your plan – a plan that is for a good future! Give me strength and patience in the coming day as I help my husbsand recover from this surgery. Grow our relationship through this and may we come out of it with a stronger faith. Prayer for Healing Power
Father God, many of us need healing. I need healing for past hurts, random physical pains that I allow to waylay my days and Spiritual healing for various reasons. I reach up to You to receive this healing so that I may be whole and that I may be able to then minister to others in a way that brings You fullness of glory. How wonderful to be able to worship You without stain or blemish and to be totally healed. Show others Your healing power so that they may also be healed and walk in wholeness. Prayer for During Surgery and while Hospitalized
Use this prayer as some faces surgery and is required to be hospitalized. Pray that the time will be fruitful, that healing would come, and that God would lead the person through a safe and successful surgery.
Gracious Father,
all health and healing are gifts from your hand.

give his/her doctors and nurses the wisdom and skill
as they work for his/her healing.
While he/she waits and faces many unknowns,
calm all doubts and fears with the Word of your promise
that nothing can separate us from your love
that is ours in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

and give him/her an extra measure of patience
as he/she waits for you to work all these things for his/her good (Romans 8:28);

Bible Verses and Scriptures to Pray During Surgery
Scripture points us back to the promise of God’s love and care in our lives. When you or someone you love is facing surgery, take time to read over these comforting Bible verses. Be reminded to surrender your worries to God in exchange for His supernatural peace.
You can also write this Bible verses in a card to encourage someone who is going into surgery. It’s important to keep these reminders at the forefront of our minds when it’s so easy to be anxious.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, the giver of life, that I am able to have this procedure done. I give thanks for the medical professionals who will facilitate my recovery today. Please bless them with the wisdom to know what to do, the dexterity to treat my injuries with care, and the empathy to put my needs before their own so that I can get well again. Please, God, keep a watchful eye on the surgery as it is being performed. It would be greatly appreciated if the surgeons could avoid causing any harm to my body.
