Biblical Advice For Marriage Problems

God didn’t design marriage to be easy. It takes two imperfect people and asks them to live together for the rest of their lives. There will be times when you get angry with your spouse, hurt by your spouse, or confused by your spouse. Times when they don’t seem to understand you, or vice versa. Times when you question if this is all there is; times when life gets hard and the relationship gets harder with it. But God didn’t design marriage for it to stay that way. He designed it for a husband and wife to love each other as Christ loved the church: sacrificially and unconditionally (Ephesians 5:22-33). When struggles arise in your marriage, God can help you overcome them using His word and His Spirit.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This is the perfect verse to remind you that God loves you unconditionally, always, and forever. In fact, it’s probably a good idea to memorize it so that when times are tough—and they inevitably will be—you can remember that no matter what happens in this life (and any other), God will never stop loving you!

1 Peter 5:7

1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Life is full of obstacles and challenges. Some are big and others small, but they all have the potential to weigh us down if we let them. When you’re facing a difficult situation, it’s easy to feel afraid or overwhelmed by it. You may even start thinking that this problem might be too big for anyone else to handle—but don’t give up! God has promised to provide everything we need when we ask in faith (Matthew 7:7), so remember that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

When times get tough, don’t be afraid—just cast your cares onto Christ! He cares about us deeply and wants us to lean on Him every step of our journey through life.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Paul wrote this passage, so you know it’s good.

To paraphrase: Love is patient. It doesn’t get angry quickly or hold grudges. Love isn’t jealous or boastful, but humble and aware of its own flaws. Love doesn’t brag and it doesn’t demand attention or flaunt itself in front of others. Love isn’t rude, nor selfish or self-seeking, but honors others above itself by being willing to sacrifice for them when necessary (and even when it’s not). When offended by someone else’s actions toward us—even if we were wronged—love trusts God to work all things out for our good as He sees fit (Romans 8:28).

Colossians 3:12-14

“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” (Colossians 3:18)

In this passage, Paul writes about the relationship between husband and wife. He tells women that they should submit to their husbands and men to love their wives. The word “submit” means that wives must be humble before their husbands in all matters; it does not mean that they are inferior or less valuable than men. In fact, Paul tells husbands to treat their wives with respect at all times (“do not be harsh”). This verse shows how important it is for a marriage to have mutual respect between both parties on an equal level when it comes to making decisions together as a couple.

Ephesians 5:21-33

If you’re in a troubled marriage, there are many Biblical verses that can help you. For instance, the Bible says in Ephesians 5:21-33:

  • 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
  • 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Romans 12:10

Love is such a powerful word and one of the most important things in life. Without love, we would be nothing.

Loving yourself is essential if you want to live in harmony with others, including your spouse. Take some time today to think about what you love about yourself and practice those things daily so that they become habitual for you. You will find that when you have more confidence in yourself and are not negative about your appearance or abilities, it will make it easier for others around them as well even if they do not know why they feel better around you.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

  • “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. And a cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

This passage refers to marriage as a union—two become one flesh with God as the third partner in their relationship. It also points out that when you’re in a troubled marriage, your spouse isn’t going to be able to do it all on his or her own; you need each other’s help and support!

Matthew 19:6

“But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.”

This verse from Matthew 19:6 sheds light on the importance of marriage. While some people might look at divorce as an easy way out, or think that it’s fine for a man to file for divorce because he has been financially supporting his wife, Jesus says otherwise. He says that if you’re married and you want to get out of your marriage, then your only option is adultery (i.e., having sex with someone else). If your husband files for divorce against your will, then God will still consider you married according to biblical standards—even though the state may not recognize it as such!

Using this verse as inspiration can help those struggling with troubled marriages stay committed despite their troubles instead of looking elsewhere for comfort or companionship

Proverbs 21:19

19 Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool.

20 He who works his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.

21 The wise ones eat sparingly and drink moderately, but fools gulp down their food like beasts and do not even think about the future (Proverbs 21:19-21).

Philippians 2 :3-4

  • Love is patient, love is kind.
  • It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
  • It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
  • Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Genesis 2 :24

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

Bible Verses Against Marriage Destroyers

It’s always easy to trust God when things are going good, but how about when we are going through trials? On your Christian walk of faith you will go through some bumps, but it builds you.

When we go through trials we tend to forget about people in Scripture who went through trials in life. God will help us in our time of need just like He helped others. Ever since I accepted Christ I’ve been through many trials and even though God sometimes doesn’t answer in our specific way He answers in the best way at the best time.

Through all the hard times God has never forsaken me. Trust in Him with all your heart. Jesus said you will have peace through Him in your trials. The reason we are so worried sometimes is because a lack of a prayer life. Build your prayer life! Continually talk to God, thank Him, and ask Him for help. Fast and instead of thinking about your problems keep your mind on Christ.

Bible Verses To Heal A Broken Marriage

The Bible is full of verses about troubled marriage. Whether you are trying to stay together for the sake of your kids or you’re ready to end things, take a moment to read these verses from the Bible that have helped people through their troubled marriage.

A troubled marriage is like a boat that will keep you afloat, but only if it’s well built. No matter what trials you’re facing, God is bigger than any of them. He loves you more than you can imagine, and promises to never forsake you (Heb 13:5). To prove His love for you, Jesus died on the cross so that your sins may be forgiven and reconciled with Him (Rom 5:10). When we acknowledge our own sinfulness and surrender to Jesus, He keeps us from drowning in our troubles.

Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
