A Call to Repentance – Dr. Charles Stanley

  • by

In the Bible, Jesus says that “repentance is the work of God.” It’s not something we can manufacture or conjure up on our own—it must be given to us by God.

That’s why I’m so grateful for Dr. Charles Stanley’s call to repentance. In this message, he explains that this season of Advent is a time to look at ourselves and ask God for help in changing those things in our lives that need changing.

We all have areas where we need improvement—and it’s important to remember that no one is perfect. But if we’re willing to look honestly at ourselves and ask God for help with our shortcomings, then He will work in us and through us as we seek His guidance and mercy.

The Bible has a lot to say about repentance. It is not only a command, but also a promise. We see in the Scriptures that God is seeking those who will turn from their sin and come to him with a broken heart and contrite spirit.

What does this look like? It means acknowledging that you’ve sinned and acknowledging the consequences of sin. It means admitting your faults and asking for forgiveness. If you’re struggling with how to do this, here are some suggestions:

1) Confess your sins to God through prayer, in which you ask him to forgive you and make you new again.

2) Confess your sins to someone else who knows Jesus Christ as Lord, who can pray with you and help hold you accountable for what has happened in the past so it doesn’t happen again in the future!

3) Ask God for strength to stop sinning so often in the future (He will give it!).
